Insurance Quotations: The (Quote) Big Search (Unquote)

Do you feel you have had your quota of insurance quote hunting, and still it seems as if everyone is trying to bully you into buying the first best thing on the market? You do not have to be in a quandary when shopping around for insurance quotes:

Firstly, if you are out insurance quote hunting, you are already on the right track – hunting, shopping around. Since insurance is a very specialised field, which caters for almost every possible need and client; premiums and products vary from one insurer to the next. You will not regret checking with several insurers, obtaining at least three quotes, before making a decision.

Secondly, when requesting an insurance quote, ensure that you obtain as much information as possible about the company as well as the agent. A business card with full contact details will come in handy once you have returned home, and you still have some questions that need answering.

Thirdly, know exactly what your insurance requirements are when requesting an insurance quote – what you already have, and what you still need. This will enable you to cut through most sales talk and identify the product that works best for you. In this way you will also prevent overlapping coverage between insurance policies.

Fourthly, insurance quotations are put together based on the information provided by the consumer at the time. Therefore do not give the insurer his quittance when the quoted premium turns out to be different from the actual premium in the end. However, also remember to provide the most accurate information for the insurer to calculate the best quote for your needs.

Fifthly, never feel that you must decide immediately whether to accept a quote or not. Insurance quotes, like most quotes, are usually valid for a while. Therefore, take your time and think it through.

Sixthly, it is the job of an insurance agent or company to guide you in your search for the best available insurance product for your needs. If you therefore sense that the broker or insurer you are dealing with is not prepared or able to explain all the different available options and answer all your questions, or does not understand what you need, you might want to look a bit further!

Remember: You need an insurance quote that will provide you with the required coverage at the best available price. Do not quit before you hold that quote in your hand!
